The Ruby Sessions has been running every Tuesday night for the past 15 years. Held in the intimate setting of Doyle’s pub, College Street (just beside Trinity College), The Ruby Sessions is an acoustic club which welcomes all genres of music and has had a lot of famous faces stop by such as Paolo Nutini, Ed Sheeran, Glen Hansard, Paul Brady, Rodrigo y Gabreila and David Kitt to name but a few.

The best place to find local music in Dublin is Whelan’s on Camden Street. Whelan’s offer a range of both free and ticketed gigs. Their famous ‘Live from the Window’ session offers free gigs in their front bar. These are not to be missed if you want to hear some great local musicians play a range of styles. Whelan’s has two venues and at the weekend they also run free, late night gigs in the upstairs room.

The Mezz in Temple Bar runs a range of free gigs, seven nights a week. The Baque Soul, a live jazz band play after midnight  every Monday should soul be your music of choice, right before the The Carvings play – a mix of Rocakbilly/Punk. The Mezz certainly caters for everyone.

Also check out the Grand Social on Liffey Street. Every Sunday there is a showcase of the best talent from around the country at their weekly Saucy Sunday’s night. Names as big as The Strypes have dropped by to showcase their skills. There’s a huge mix of entertainment with everything from burlesque to folk to rock and roll. Also their flea market every Saturday is the best place in the city to pick up some previous loved items!
